Short links that stay short

What actually changes when you move a team off Bitly

Shorter paid codes, a team activity log, outbound webhooks, and custom domains that register themselves automatically - a practical look at what's different, not a marketing page.

Moving a team's links to a new shortener is annoying by design - every redirect that currently works has to keep working, or the migration costs you worse than the subscription ever did. This isn't a push to switch. It's what's actually different if you do.

Shorter codes, by plan

Typical Bitly-class free links run seven characters. On lnkz.xyz that's the free and guest tier too - but Pro drops to four characters and Business to three, with one two-character code included per Business account. Length is fixed at creation and tied to the plan you were on when you made the link; downgrading later never shortens or lengthens an existing code.

A few things a single shortener account doesn't usually include

  • A team activity log - who added a domain, sent an invite, or deleted a link, with a timestamp, on the Team page.
  • Outbound webhooks - a signed HTTP POST to your own endpoint on every click, retried once if your endpoint is briefly down.
  • Link-in-bio pages bundled in, not a separate product or subscription - one page on Pro, five on Business.
  • Guest shortening with no account required; a cookie holds the link for 30 days until you claim it with a signup.

Custom domains, the part that actually breaks

A custom domain isn't just DNS - the hosting provider has to actually know about the hostname, or the request never arrives, no matter how correctly your CNAME is pointed. Verifying a hostname on lnkz.xyz registers it with our hosting automatically, so it starts routing as soon as your DNS propagates instead of waiting on a manual step on our side.

What you'd be giving up

Be straightforward about this part: there's no browser extension, no mobile app, and no bulk CSV import yet - only a CSV export. If your team's current workflow depends on any of those, lnkz.xyz isn't a drop-in replacement today.
